Supervisor - Utility Billing

On behalf of our client in the Public Utilities Sector, PROCOM is looking for a number of Supervisors to provide leadership on billing processes.

Supervisor - Utility Billing - Job Description

  • Plans, assigns and supervises daily activities including: meter reading, billing processes (water and electric), retailer settlement and mailroom activities
  • Ensures the collection, availability, validation, reliability and security of electricity and water meter data for accurate billing processes through manual and electronic meter reading systems including AMI and MV90
  • Checks all service order entries for quality assurance
  • Researches software errors and corrects accounts or issues
  • Resolves escalated customer concerns regarding billing and meter reading issues
  • Ensures SLA requirements are met for the municipalities
  • Oversees the EBT and MDMR systems
  • Provides support to internal and external customers i.e. Regulatory Affairs, Finance, Customer Connections and large accounts.
  • Ensures billing operations comply with Ontario Energy Board (OEB) and provincial regulation and legislation
  • Stays well informed on related industry issues, especially government and regulatory policies, and maintains a network of industry stakeholders
  • Provides coaching, development, performance management, technical guidance and advice
  • Provides input into department goals and objectives
  • Leads and/or participates in department projects and key initiatives to ensure quality and timely completion within budget
  • Researches, recommends and implements new or enhanced policies, procedures and processes to improve operational effectiveness
  • Ensures compliance to legislative, regulatory and Health & Safety policies, procedures and standards
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Supervisor - Utility Billing - Mandatory Skills

  • 5 years experience Supervising customer billing
  • Advanced knowledge of billing practices and policies
  • General Knowledge of all Customer Service functions for both electric and water services
  • Proficiency with Customer Information Systems (multi-service- electric and water)
  • Understanding of the energy and utility industries, including a fundamental knowledge of electrical distribution systems
  • Thorough knowledge of regulatory and governmental requirements (OEB, IESO Rules and Regulations, PIPEDA and OHSA)
  • Proficiency with MS Office applications
  • Must hold and maintain a valid class 'G' Driver's license
  • Degree or Diploma in Business Administration or related field
