We are growing and looking for Specialist (L2) Unix (Solaris) Administrators! Here is a basic overview of the role and responsibilities that we are seeking in the idea candidates! Must Oracle SuperCluster experience. 
Support: Provides ongoing administration and support of a large UNIX (Solaris and Red Hat Linux) systems. Works with remote support team, vendors, end users, Customer Service Representatives and other technical staff to resolve Unix/Linux/Storage hardware/software issues. Able to support larger Unix environments for 50+ Servers. Must be available on-call and for after-hours maintenance changes from time to time and act as a point of escalation for technical problems encountered at this site. 

• Solaris Support 
o Conduct activities in such areas as server builds, operating system upgrades, capacity planning, performance tuning, resource optimization, and monitoring 
o Perform administrative tasks related to Unix server installations and decommissioning 
o Manage high availability clustering environment 
o Performance monitoring (OS, CPU, Memory, Network and Disk) 
o Detect, diagnose, report, and resolve Unix/Linux Server related hardware and OS problems. 
o Ensure all Unix/Linux operating systems are patched to the latest appropriate releases. 
o Ensure backups and data restore tasks are being completed. 
o Disk management and configuration using OS specific Logical Volume Management tools 
o Ensure server security compliance conforming to customer security requirements. 
o Coordinate and/or perform tasks in change management windows 
o Attend weekly meetings as required 
o Respond to incident tickets towards maintaining service levels as per the established Service Level Agreements. 
o Work closely with various support groups including Database, Backup, Storage, Application, Security in order to provide fast problem resolution and to improve client experience. 
o Very good knowledge of Unix file-systems, Veritas Volume management, patch management, trouble-shooting, storage management, performance management. 
o Very good knowledge of system tools such as Veritas Volume Manager, Tivoli Storage management, ESM etc. 
o Demonstrate strong working knowledge of Oracle Super Cluster M7/M8 
o Participate in the Customer Out-of-hours (OOH) support process to deal with Customer defined high priority incidents occurring outside of normal business hours. 
o Update and maintain the allocated Incident / Problem / Change control tickets in line with the Customer processes and procedures. 
• Maintain an awareness of dependencies off all infrastructure. 
• Create, maintain, and update infrastructure documentation. 
• Ensure all Work Carried out is in accordance with the Customer and SUPPLIER H&S, Security, Privacy, and code of conduct regulations (in the case of Customer regulations, provided in writing to Supplier and as amended from time to time) 

Demonstrating an understanding with respect to: 
• Solaris 9,10 Global Zones and Containers 
• Must have strong working knowledge of Oracle Super Cluster M7/M8 
• Samba 
• Oracle databases exposure 
• High Availability and Clustering Experience 
• Server Virtualization 
• Veritas Volume Manager 
• Shell and Perl Scripting 
Nice to have the knowledge of 
• Enterprise Storage Systems 
• Symantec NetBackup, TSM, Legato 
• EAR(CA Technologies)
