Manager, PMO Strategy
 
On behalf of our client in the financial industry, Procom Consultants Group is currently searching for a Manager, PMO Strategy for the PMO Office.

The Business Manager for the Enterprise Program Management Office (EPMO) is responsible for governance, reporting & resource management functions within EPMO & BPR function. Working closely with Portfolio and Program managers, Business Manager will model and manage resource demands of enterprise projects. This requires monitoring resource usage and providing recommendations to optimize project resources, identification or resource shortages, and understanding/illustrating the impact of changes to resource capacity and utilization. The Business Manager also works with program/project managers to ensure projects are well governed. This includes developing, managing and enforcing the use of standard templates, processes, project methodologies and reporting practices & establishing a process to ensure available tools/resources are effectively utilized by the project teams.

Manager, PMO Strategy Job Description:

  • Determine the optimal resource assignments across the enterprise as required by projects based on priority of the project and suitability and capacity of resources
  • Recommend resource assignment adjustments, identify issues and skills or capacity gaps by modelling impacts as project priorities change
  • Collaborate with Portfolio and EPMO leadership to determine a Portfolio management approach to program and project determination, prioritization and approval
  • Ensure established EPMO governance protocols (reference: EPMO Governance document, PMO Handbook) are being adhered to and any exceptions are being reported on regular basis to CBTO Leadership
  • Forecast resource requirements, monitoring resource allocation & usage and providing recommendations to optimize project resources, identification or resource shortages, and understanding/illustrating the impact of changes to resource capacity and utilization
  • Collaborate with Portfolio and EPMO leadership in a resource capacity, utilization and allocation process and framework based on mature Portfolio Management practices
  • Update and maintain the EPMO governance library and related framework documentation (PMO Handbook, BA Handbook, EPMO Governance etc.)

Manager, PMO Strategy Mandatory Skills: 

  • Deep experience creating and establishing governance for a large scale EPMO
  • Very strong knowledge or workforce planning in an EPMO office
  • Experience working in a consulting firm using IT risk and controls
  • Portfolio resource management experience and ability
  • Strong comprehension of information systems technologies
  • Strong Knowledge of MS Project and Project Server
  • Understanding of technology organization roles and typical skill sets
  • Knowledge of the project lifecycle and the application development lifecycle, role / skill relevancy by phase
  • Strong Knowledge and experience with a Resource Management system
  • Considerable experience in working with cross functional teams of professionals dealing with all aspects of the delivery of projects and services
  • Excellent communication skills to all levels within the organization
  • Ability to gain consensus amongst diverse stakeholders
  • Excellent mentoring and coaching skills
  • A strategic, analytical decision-maker and influential communicator, able to influence outcomes to meet defined goals / strategies
