Senior Business Analyst: Job Details

The Customer Relationship Management Delivery (CRMD) team supports business enhancements or BAU (Business As Usual) enhancements, application development/modifications to support small to large company projects, and provides 24*7 production support for Call Centre applications. The team works core business hours and occasionally supports the deployment efforts on code release nights.

The Sr. Business Analyst on the CRMD team leads BAU/project work in the form of business requirements through the development/delivery methodology.  They help define scope, requirements and lead those development, testing and implementation. He/she understands the language and needs of both the business and technology stakeholders, enabling a shared understanding of what is required on both sides, and establishing a climate of cross-functional collaboration. Sr. Business Analysts act as advisors to the business by helping them understand how technology can be leveraged to solve business problems/issues, and act as advocates for the business when collaborating with IT. 

  • Partner with business, technology, and project teams to ensure that the product road map clearly defines the product's strategic alignment to the business need.
  • Facilitate or participate in sessions to refine scope into a project’s initial requirements (user stories) and high-level design, producing appropriate documentation as needed.
  • Elicit functional requirements iteratively throughout the delivery phase by applying a variety of techniques including; interviews, workshops, document analysis, context diagrams, process modeling, etc.
  • Work with the Product Owner, other Business Analysts and project team members to prioritize the product backlog and help to define acceptance criteria for testing efforts. 
  • Work with IT to estimate effort within project scope and track/escalate changes.
  • Work with IT to determine resource capacity for project and BAU releases.
  • Provide support and ensure Change Management processes are adhered to.
  • Act as a liaison between Business and IT to identify issues, prepare for discussions, and prioritize logical development order.
  • Bridge the gap between both business and IT teams, ensuring common understanding and alignment of both functional and non-functional requirements
  • Facilitate problem-solving discussions and general communications between the business and IT and within IT itself
  • Create and manage ongoing processes (i.e. issues mgmt, development calls and reporting) specific to various vendors and align these processes within the Call Centre and other Business Units
  • Provide off-hours support on a 6-week release cycle basis.

Senior Business Analyst: Mandatory Skills

  • University Degree/College Diploma in Computer Science or Information Technology disciplines or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 3 – 5 years’ experience as a Business Analyst leading a team of technical professionals
  • Established experience in effective vendor management 
  • Solid understanding of a formal project management methodology ideally on cross-functional projects
  • Experience in developing process improvements; identify systemic solutions to challenges 
  • Strong facilitation skills within a large forum 
  • Strong communication skills, able to work with all levels of the organization 
  • Quality minded and demonstrated customer service orientation 
  • Strong time management and priority management skills 
  • Proven leadership, motivational and negotiation skills 
  • Perseverance, dedication, and self-motivation; high energy and organizational commitment
